Faultless: AI-Powered Proofreader for Engineering Reports

Accurate and compliant engineering reports are crucial for ensuring the safety and sustainability of infrastructure projects. The current manual review process relies heavily on a limited number of senior engineers which creates bottlenecks and delays. To address these challenges faced by our client, Tonkin and Taylor, our project Faultless, introduces an AI-driven proofreading system designed to streamline the review of engineering reports. Faultless integrates Google Gemini into the report-reviewing workflow, automating the detection of common issues before senior review. When a user upload their document and specifies the rules they wish to execute, (e.g. grammar and spelling, reference-list matching and mandatory-section verification) AI agents are triggered and document review begins. Faultless produces an annotated Word document with comments full of suggestions and a front-loaded summary page to guide the junior engineers through high-priority fixes, encouraging them to improve the report through suggestions, rather than simply relying on AI corrections.
