Semester 1 2025 App Development

Chromecho

Description

Chromecho is a mobile application developed to make visual art more inclusive for low-vision and blind users. The app enables users to take a photo of a painting and receive a rich, spoken description generated by a custom-trained AI model. With real-time object detection and haptic feedback, users can independently frame and capture artworks without visual confirmation. Designed with accessibility at its core, Chromecho follows WCAG 2.1 AA standards and embeds inclusive design practices throughout. It's a tool that bridges the gap between visual culture and non-visual experience, offering an engaging, self-directed way to explore and enjoy art. Our project reflects the belief that art should not be reserved for only those who can see it: art belongs to everyone.
