Semester 1 2023 Web Development

Capitalise

🏆 University of Auckland CS Capstone Excellence Award - Semester 1, 2023

About Capitalise

With the ever-growing number of computer science and software engineering students, the competition for entry into the industry has dramatically increased, and the employers' time to do a thorough check has diminished. The University of Auckland's (UoA) computer science capstone, COMPSCI 399, allows students to demonstrate their abilities to the industry by solving large-scale computer science problems as a team. However, when completed, these projects are not easily accessible to industry partners outside of a one-time in-person showcase. Additionally, the capstone course relies on external clients to offer students with real-world problems to work on. However, this has proven increasingly difficult as potential clients cannot accurately assess UoA students' talent. We will solve this problem by developing a digital platform that opens up the accessibility of the project beyond the day of the Capstone showcase. Capitalise is a one-stop shop where students can upload their capstone projects for the world to see, and employers can view them conveniently without reading through hundreds of lines of code.
