Semester 2 2022 Web Development

SciPlan

Description

One of the biggest challenges facing new students, is a simple, intuitive way for them to plan their degree from start to finish. The current system of PDFs is not user friendly and is difficult for students to know if they have taken the correct courses. Furthermore, the university is sinking a lot of time and resources into creating PDFs for students of every major to help plan them their degrees. These are not only not particularly user friendly but are difficult to maintain and require frequent editing by staff to keep up with the university's ever-changing regulations and requirements. The solution we propose, is a web-based interface that helps students to plan their degree from the moment they start. This interface will give students links to resources and real time feedback to help them pick the correct courses for their degree and allow them to come back and make changes to their plan in the future. It will also allow staff to easily update major and course requirements, as well as add new courses and remove old ones.
