Semester 2 2022 Web Development
Marker Tutor and Management System
Description
With the increase in student numbers, lecturers need more markers and tutors to share the workload, but the hiring process is becoming increasingly challenging. As recruitment emails are sent out in bulk, lecturers receive a large number of responses to their applications, which takes a lot of time for lecturers to determine whether the applicant meets the requirements. A situation might happen here where more than one person applies for the same marker position and when the position is full, the lecturer needs to send another email to ask the applicant if they would like to mark other courses, which is an inefficient application process. For students, there is very little information available, and we do not know how many markers are needed for a course or what the expected hours of work are. Our goal is to simplify the application process to the maximum extent and reduce the management difficulty based on simple design, straightforward process, and rapid response. We aim to provide a platform that brings convenience to students, teachers, and administrators. From the perspective of students, we tend to make the tutor/marker recruitment data transparent. We will clearly show which courses are available to apply for and what are the requirements for the position. From the perspective of administrators, we tend to simplify the managing process. One core function we will develop for our website is Automatic approval (which can be turned on or off). After filling out the forms, the system will analyze them and decide whether they suit the position or not. Finally, the system will filter out some applications and provide the final list to the administrator. Furthermore, there are plenty of ideas we can't wait to put into our system. With these functions, the web app will successfully provide the best experience in marking or tutoring, thus attracting more and more students to engage in our project. Our team members have their skilled fields. Some are good at the front end, some are proficient in the back end, and some are competent in user experience. We will apply what we have learned and continue to move forward in the exploration. Ultimately, the idea will become a reality.
